Koorana PS students to grow from Palm Beach Rotary Club donation

Gabrielle JefferyWeekend Kwinana Courier

A RECENT donation from Palm Beach Rotary will help students at Koorana Primary School in Warnbro engage in outdoor learning.

Visiting students on November 30, members of the club dropped off an overflowing garden cart full of gardening goods to the students including hand tools and watering cans.

The equipment will allow students to get to work in their new raised garden beds and plant some tasty vegetables.

Koorana Primary School teacher Terrice Evans said they were grateful for the club’s help.

“It was a very kind donation given in order to help us provide activities for outdoor learning and to improve the transition of Pre-Primary to Year 1,” she said.

Palm Beach Rotarian Claudia Wells said she enjoyed delivering the $277 donation.

“We heard through councillor Leigh Liley that the school was looking for help with setting up a garden,” she said.

“It was originally going to be the soil but instead that was already donated so we switched and donated the cart, tools, gloves, watering cans for the garden.

“It was really quite nice, one little boy made a speech telling us how the donation would help them and we also got some little hand-written notes from other students thanking us.”
