Kwinana resident celebrates 100th birthday

ALAN Drane celebrated his 100th birthday on March 20, having lived more than half that century in Kwinana.

Mr Drane migrated from India, where he was working in customs, to Australia in 1966 to take up a job with BP Refinery. He worked for BP until his retirement.

Mr Drane and wife Pamela have two children, Errol and Cheryl, two grandchildren Lisa and Corey Adams, and two great-grandchildren, Ava and Austin Hathaway.

The family and friends gathered at Aegis Banksia Park in Calista for the celebration, complete with memorabilia from Mr Drane’s service in Persia and Iraq during World War II and a photo of him dancing the twist at his 90th birthday.

Mr Drane has outlived his six siblings and has been married for 69 years.
