A LITTLE garden in Safety Bay has been a labour of love for Aline French.

Mrs French spends about four hours a day in her garden during winter and more than five hours during summer.

“There is so much reward from gardening,” she said.

“Each section is like a little room and there is always something in flower.

“We have a Wilhelmina Pine, which is very unusual.

“There is Old Man’s Beard hanging from the trees and creepers across the fence.

“We also have a mini orchard.”

It has taken Mrs French nine years to get the garden to its verdant state.

She is opening her garden up for everyone to enjoy the fruits of her labour.

Features of the open garden weekend include lectures by June Keil on worm stations and soil at 11.30am, 1.30pm and 3.30pm. There will also be morning and afternoon tea in the alfresco garden.
