Leda man (34) charged after guns allegedly found in ute

POLICE claim they found a sawn off rifle and a double barrel shotgun in a utility after a vehicle stop in Rockingham last night .

Traffic Enforcement Group officers intercepted a blue Holden Rodeo utility on Ennis Avenue about 8pm.

Police searched the vehicle and allegedly found a .22 sawn off rifle under the seat of the driver, along with a spent .22 shell casing.

Rockingham Detectives attended and a further search of the vehicle allegedly uncovered a quantity of .22 ammunition and a double barrel shotgun were located.

It will be further alleged a search of the male driver revealed an amount of cash and methamphetamine.

A 34-year-old man from Leda was charged with possessing a firearm in circumstances of aggravation, possessing an unlicensed firearm, carried with drugs and/or cash, two counts of unlicensed person possessed firearm/ammunition and possessing a prohibited drug (methamphetamine).

The man is due to appear in Rockingham Magistrates Court today.
