Limit to parking imminent

Stuart HortonWeekend Kwinana Courier

The Courier reported last month that business owners along the two thoroughfares were worried for their futures because shopping centre staff were filling parking spaces.

City of Rockingham has moved to address the issue by proposing the installation of 30-minute parking signage, which will be voted on at the council meeting next Tuesday.

Similar 30-minute parking signs are already in place along the northern end of Settlers Avenue, but the officer's report before the Planning and Engineering Services committee stated that installing the signs was the safest and most manageable option to control parking.

If the proposal is approved and adopted, the signs will be installed along both sides of Settlers Avenue up to the intersection with Safety Bay Road, and Atwick Terrace, between Settlers Avenue and Nairn Drive. Yellow lines will also be marked along both roads to indicate no stopping.
