The Baldivis Area School Sports Association formed recently to create inter-school carnivals between the college and its feeder primary schools Baldivis, Makybe Rise and Settlers primary schools.

Baldivis Secondary College physical education teacher Scott Smith said the carnivals helped familiarise primary school pupils with the senior school and its students.

‘The spirit of it has been great so far,’ he said.

‘We have college students help at the interschool carnivals and compete in events with the younger students.’

Last week, an inter-school cross-country carnival was held at Baldivis Primary School, with an athletics carnival later this year to be held at the high school.

‘The students who win get a medal with the high school colours and some will come over as part of the athletics carnival so they can see what it is like to help the transition,’ he said.
