Man in custody after reports man had firearm at Waikiki Village Shopping Centre

ROCKINGHAM Detectives have someone in custody in relation to reports a man had a firearm at Waikiki Village Shopping Centre.

Several members of the public reported a man was pointing what appeared to be a firearm outside the centre, on the corner of Read Street and Gnangara Drive, at 5pm.

Police did patrols of the area, but could not find the man.

After initial inquiries, police believed the firearm may have been a pellet or paintball gun.

A man in his 30s is assisting police with their investigation.
