Man punched unconscious outside Rockingham hotel

DETECTIVES are investigating a serious assault in a Rockingham car park in which a man was punched and fell to the ground unconscious.

The victim sustained serious head injuries and was taken to Royal Perth Hospital.

Police said a 28-year-old man from Swan View was with a friend at the bar on Chalgrove Avenue at about 11.45pm on Thursday, October 29.

They became involved in an altercation with another group of people.

Security quickly intervened and escorted both parties from the premises via different exits.

Once outside, the parties reconvened and a second altercation occurred in the car park of the hotel. The victim was punched several times to his head and face and fell to the ground unconscious.

St Johns Ambulance attended and the victim was taken to Rockingham Hospital. He was later transferred to Royal Perth Hospital due to serious head injuries.

Police would like to speak to anyone who may have seen either altercation or the parties involved prior to the altercations.
