Man on the run after crash

A MAN is still on the run after crashing into innocent motorists in a police chase this morning.

Police officers started a chase when a Subaru Liberty with stolen plates was seen travelling on Safety Bay Road near Read Street in Warnbro at about 10am.

The driver of the Subaru failed to stop for police when directed and collided with a stationary Misubishi sedan at the intersection of Warnbro Sound Avenue and San Sebastian Boulevard in Port Kennedy.

The Subaru was abandoned on Jean Pierre Drive and the driver fled on foot.

A St Johns spokesperson said a woman in her 60s was taken to Royal Perth Hospital and a man in his 60s was being treated at the scene.

Police said the man was taken to Rockingham Hospital and the woman was taken to Royal Perth Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

WA Police Deputy CommissionerĀ Gary Dreibergs said police were chasing a Subaru when the crash occurred.

He said the woman was trapped in the vehicle for a period of time after the crash.

Police said the driver of the pursued vehicle ran from the crash and officers were still looking for the man.

Meanwhile, emergency services have freed a man from a car after an accident in Baldivis this afternoon.

The driver, aged in his forties, lost control of his car along Baldivis Road near Sixty Eight Road and ploughed into a tree just before 2.15pm.

The man received significant head and chest injuries and was taken to Royal Perth Hospital by the RAC Rescue helicopter.

Department of Fire and Emergency Services, WA Police and St John Ambulance attended the scene.
