STUMPED for a new fundraising idea, Natalie Dodds thought she would take a break then remembered she had an errand to do for her daughter.
Her daughter needed some new hair bows and while filling out her order the perfect fundraising idea dawned on her.
Mrs Dodds is a member of the Mandurah Mermaids, a relay team in this year’s Relay for Life for the Cancer Council.
She said each team was required to come up with a new fundraising venture which was different to anything done before.
“On Facebook I discovered these beautiful hair accessories and have become a customer of the business,” she said.
Mrs Dodds orders her daughter’s hair ribbons from her favourite supplier, ‘Impressive Pieces by Dani’.
It is a home business in Secret Harbour run by Danielle Rosina.
“So putting in my order that day, I got the idea and asked Danielle if she was willing to donate some hair bows for our relay for life team.
“She agreed and here we are.
“I am so happy with her response – she went above and beyond even ordering specially made ribbons in the white, purple and yellow.
Ms Rosina said almost everbody was affected through family or friends by cancer.
“That was my reason for doing it, having had family members with cancer,” she said.
“It’s just a really good cause to support.”
The Peel leg of the Cancer Councils Relay for Life is on Saturday and Sunday, October 28 and 29 from 11am -11am at Rushton Park, Mandurah.
