Men’s health pitstop in Kwinana on Sunday

Declan ByrneWeekend Kwinana Courier

Pit Stop will allow men to check on their health with five key areas able to be assessed – chassis (waist), exhaust (smoking), fuel additives (alcohol), oil pressure (blood pressure) and shock absorbers (coping skills).

An event will run in each city with Kwinana hosting the session on June 19 at Anniversary Park from 11am to 5pm.

Rockingham Mayor Barry Sammels said it was important that men stay on the ball when it comes to their health.

“Pit Stop is offering a light-hearted approach to a matter that we all need to give a bit of attention to,” he said.

“Men often delay getting health check-ups or we don’t do it regularly enough, and research shows that often our health is not as good as that of our female counterparts and the proof is we tend not to live as long.”

Kwinana Mayor Carol Adams encouraged men in both cities to get behind the events.

“I would like to encourage all men to take advantage of health checks that would usually cost, for free,” she said.

“This is also a great opportunity to find out about activities and services in the area that will help you get more physically active and stay healthy. ”
