It meets fortnightly at the Warnbro Community and Family Centre in Warnbro.

Ms Ould said her group’s ethos was about strengthening and educating Maori culture.

“Mindful Moko is a a place of togetherness for all our ‘whanau mama papa kuia and koros’ raising ‘tamariki’ in the Rockingham region to adapt and educate each other on,” she said.

The group teaches through the use of Maori ancestral myths and legends, dance and an introduction to Maori language basics such as ABCs, colours and 123s.

“Most of all, it’s for our children to be mindful of their culture and their mind, body and spirit,” she said.

The group meets every Thursday from 9.30am to 11.30am.

It asks for a ‘koha’ (donation) of $5 to help with the cost of hiring the centre.
