“I never thought I would get in but I did.

“My biggest challenge is being shorter than the other finalists.

“I am really looking forward to this. It’s all I’ve ever wanted to do.”

It is her fifth competition but her first interstate, and she is looking forward to discovering the Gold Coast.

Her job as a personal trainer has helped with preparations for the event.

“I train five times a week and eat as healthy as possible,” she said.

She hopes to use her work to support women achieve their desired fitness levels.

Describing herself as determined, the young model said although modelling was exciting, she often preferred to potter at home.

“I also study, work full-time but I am a bit of a homebody; I enjoy landscape photography, reading and going to the gym,” she said.

Ms Hawley will take part in a jam-packed week of promotional appearances, exclusive events, Gold Coast attractions and intensive judging as she battles it out with the 23 other national finalists.

Miss V8 Supercars 2016 will be crowned on October 21.
