Missing elderly prospector found in WA

AN elderly prospector who became separated from his friend in Western Australia’s South West region at the weekend has been found alive.

John Donald MacKay, 70, was last seen near Yourdamung Lake, about 30km north-west of Collie, about 5pm on Sunday.

Police launched a land and air search on Monday, and he was found by the afternoon.

State Emergency Service volunteers had joined the search along with Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions personnel.

Helicopters were also being utilised from police and DFES for the search.
