Modern truck for volunteer brigade

The new truck replaces a vehicle that has been in service for 18 years and has a better layout of hoses and equipment, higher off-road clearance, tyre reinflation equipment for off-road operations and improved burn-over safety features, among other additions.

Captain Andrew Munro said the new truck would be a welcome addition.

“There have been many changes and additions to equipment and procedures over 18 years, which the previous appliance was modified several times to accommodate,” he said.

Crews will spend the next week completing training on the layout and operation of the new vehicle before it becomes operational.

The replaced vehicle has been retired to the DFES Academy for use as training vehicle.
