WITH a deafening roar, monster trucks are slowly coming to life as 10 of the vehicles arrive in Kwinana ahead of the fourth annual Monster Trucks Unleashed at the Kwinana Motorplex next Saturday night.

Trucks and equipment worth more than $3.5 million have been freighted across Australia for the event.

Operations manager Rusty Bell said the show continued to get bigger and better each year, appealing to people of all ages.

“This is one of our biggest shows and we will be putting everything into it.”

He said it was rare that 10 trucks performed at the same venue.

“We call it Wiggles on Wheels, with most of the show featuring choreographed sequences based on family entertainment. The revheads also love it because we’ve got supercharged engine blocks with methanol motors,” he said.

One of the highlights will be the antics of the Scooby Doo monster truck, which gets up to all kinds of mischief during the night.

“I talk to Scooby and he talks back to me,” Mr Bell said.

As well as the family fun, there will also be some serious racing.

“We will be unleashing the cars. Last year it was the first time an Australian monster truck driver completed a backflip here and it is thought to be one of the highest backflips in the world,” Mr Bell said.

“We’re promising to go bigger this year. Each year we wreck and burn more stuff and we just keep pushing the envelope.”
