Ms Wells is starting her own support group for people who are seeking coping methods and information on the condition.
A meeting will be held at the Waikiki and Community Family Centre on Saturday, August 17, from 2.30pm.
The meeting will determine how many people are interested and what kind of information and workshops would be valuable.
Ms Wells’ daughter, Carys, was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in June.
