New carpark for Rockingham Lakes Primary School

A PARKING issue that had plagued Rockingham Lakes Primary School for years is set to be resolved after construction began on a new sealed carpark recently.

Warnbro MLA Paul Papalia made good on a pre-election promise to commit money for the project through the State Government’s local projects, local jobs initiative.

“This new carpark is long overdue and been an ongoing issue for years, “ he said.

“It caused issues not just for parents picking up their kids from school but also for residents around the school due to increased traffic and dust from the old limestone carpark.”

“The sealing of the area and the creation of a kiss and drive is the result of an election promise of $150,000 committed by the State Government.”

The City of Rockingham is also part of the project, matching the Government’s commitment of $150,000 dollar for dollar to bring the total contribution to $300,000.

Mayor Barry Sammels said work began the week of July 9 and was scheduled to be finished by the end of September.
