New Wellard tavern opening delayed due to break in

Vanessa SchmittWeekend Kwinana Courier

THE opening of The Well Tavern in Wellard has been delayed due to a break-in.

Vandals broke into the tavern, which is under construction, between 2am and 6am on Saturday morning.

They caused hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of damage, removing cameras and recording equipment, destroying the main switchboard, ceilings, cooling and heating equipment, commercial ovens and kitchen equipment.

The Well, which is adjacent to the Wellard Train Station, was due to open in November. Now the owners say the opening will be delayed. They hope to open before Christmas.
