Not such a Shore Thing: Rockingham brewery plans fall through

A POPULAR decision approving a brewery development at the old petrol station site on Parkin Street has collapsed due to its lease.

Rockingham Council approved Shore Thing Brewing Pty Ltd’s development application on February 28 for a brewery/restaurant at the site.

Shore Thing Brewing expressed its disappointment on its Face book page.

“Unfortunately we have not able to reach agreement on the lease terms for the proposed premises,” they said.

“We are very disappointed not to be going ahead with our plans at this site.”

“We will continue to look for a suitable premises and will keep you updated of our progress.”

“Once again thank you all for your support.”

Mayor Barry Sammels agreed it was an equally disappointing decision for the City of Rockingham.

“The City felt that the proposed brewery on Parkin Street would have been an exciting development which would have complemented and enhanced the Waterfront Village,” he said.

“We are very disappointed by the decision not to proceed.”
