“He wasn’t in our yard so I went back to putting my son to sleep.”

A short time later, Ms Witehira said two young boys came to her door, saying they saw a man steal her dog.

“They said the man took our puppy and rode off with him on a pushbike,” she said.

“The boys tried to chase him near the oval.”

Ms Witehira said her backyard is secure and both gates padlocked.

She said the man could have jumped the fence or leaned over and grabbed the puppy.

The police have been notified.

Ms Witehira asked anyone with information to call 0408 803 858.
