POLICE have charged a 40-year-old Orelia man after a police chase in a stolen vehicle last night.
Police tried to stop an Audi TT on Barrington Street in Bibra Lake at 5.40pm.
It is alleged the driver of the Audi failed to stop and evaded police through various streets in Yangebup.
A short time later, police set up a tyre deflation device on Wattleup Road in Hammond Park, however the car continued evading police through streets in Hammond Park and through to North Coogee.
The car then left the road and entered a park off Lucretia Circle in Coogee. It travelled down a set of stairs and continued on through further streets.
At this time, the vehicle had two missing tyres. Another tyre deflation device was deployed on Russell and Rockingham Roads, however the car continued through red traffic lights but eventually came to stop on Rockingham Road.
Police claim the driver fled from the car, however officers apprehended the man nearby.
It will be further alleged officers found methylamphetamine on the man.
The car was allegedly stolen from a residence in Piara Waters in early August.
An Orelia man was charged with aggravated fail to stop, reckless driving, stealing a motor vehicle and possessing a prohibited drug. He is due to appear in court at a later date.
