Parmelia: Jimmy catches suspected thief after chase

Vanessa SchmittWeekend Kwinana Courier

A PARMELIA man has been charged after a police chase with a stolen vehicle last night.

Regional Investigations Unit officers saw a Ford Falcon utility, which they believed was stolen, in Parmelia before midnight.

It will be alleged they activated emergency lights and siren but the driver did not stop and attempted to evade police. The stolen vehicle travelled east on Bertram Road and onto the Kwinana Freeway.

A successful stinger deployment at the intersection of Challenger Ave and Bertram Road, Wellard led to the vehicle stopping a short time later. Police claim the driver fled on foot into bushland.
