Ricciardos involvement in the Perth Speed Fest event on December 13 is a major coup for organisers, who plan to pit the F1 car against top drag cars in an ultimate test of speed.
The car Ricciardo will drive is a Red Bull Racing RB7, which Sebastian Vettel used to secure the 2011 world championship.
Perth Speed Fest event producer Emma Stenhouse has based the Kwinana event on the UK Goodwood Festival of Speed and said it would be a demonstration of motoring throughout the eras.
Theres nothing in Australia quite like it, Ms Stenhouse said.
To see our local hero Daniel Ricciardo in an F1 car racing in Perth, as well as racing and demonstrations of motocross, rallying, bikes, drags and V8s alongside a huge showcase of historic, classic and majestic cars will be exciting.
V8 Supercar driver Will Davison, MotoGP rider Jack Miller, F1 royalty Alan Jones and V8 pit lane reporter, Perths Riana Crehan, are among other big names set to join Ricciardo at the event. Despite the big names, Ms Stenhouse said the day was as much about giving emerging drivers a chance to shine and displaying past treasures.
Vintage and modern rally cars, quads, buggies, side-by-sides and bikes will race on Kwinanas dirt track, while motocross riders will jump and rev their way around the centre of the speedway. Race cars more than 70 years old will also be on display and take part in demonstration laps.
Tickets go on sale this Monday.
