Police charge man (26) after Port Kennedy armed robbery

A ROCKINGHAM man has been charged with aggravated armed robbery after allegedly stealing electrical items and then threatening staff with a knife at a retail store in Port Kennedy.

At about 10.40am on January 16, a white Ford Falcon sedan reversed into the item collection bay at the store on Saltaire Way.

Two people remained in the vehicle while a man exited and began loading electrical items into the boot.

Police say the man was then questioned by staff and threatened them with a knife before continuing to load items into the car.

He then left the scene in the car.

The vehicle was later sighted driving in Rockingham and was stopped by officers from Regional Investigations Unit and Rockingham Detectives.

A man was taken into custody and the stolen property later located at a unit in Rockingham.

The 26-year-old man will appear in Rockingham Magistrates Court today.

Inquiries are continuing to identify the other occupants of the vehicle.
