COLD Case Homicide Squad detectives have charged a man with murder and are searching a site in Bayswater in relation to the disappearance of missing woman Rebecca Delalande.

Police put the call out this week for information about Ms Delalande’s disappearance.

She had been missing since 2001 but police had only become aware of her disappearance last year.

Last night, detectives charged a 45-year-old Rockingham man with murder after launching a search of a Bayswater industrial site yesterday.

The man will appear in the Perth Magistrates Court today.

Cold Case Homicide Squad Det-Snr Sgt Craig Stephen said the investigation was ongoing.

“We would like to thank community members for coming forward and assisting with the investigation,” he said.

“News of Rebecca’s disappearance has clearly been distressing for her family and friends, and we are committed to resolving this matter.”

Detectives became aware of Ms Delalande’s in late 2017 during an unrelated investigation.

After looking into it, they discovered she had actually been missing since 2001.

“Rebecca was in infrequent contact with her family prior to her disappearance, and they had formed the belief that she had relocated to the eastern states,” Det-Snr Sgt Stephen said.

Detectives are still encouraging anyone with information to come forward.
