Police claim a man was assaulted after a Medina house fire

A SINGLETON man has been charged with assault occasioning bodily harm after a house fire in Medina last night.

Police were called to a fire at a house on Crowcher Way at about 7pm.

Department of Fire and Emergency Service personnel attended and extinguished the fire.

It is alleged during this time, a 65-year-old man who lives nearby was standing at the intersection of Derbal Street and Cowcher Street and was assaulted.

South Metro Response and Mandurah Police officers attended and with the assistance of Police Airwing, located and took a man into custody.

A 32-year-old man from Singleton has been charged and will appear in the Rockingham Magistrates Court on November 21.

Arson Squad Detectives are investigating the house fire, which is estimated to have caused about $80,000 damage.
