Police investigate armed robberies in Leda and Winthrop

REGIONAL Investigations Unit detectives are investigating two armed robberies in Winthrop and Leda last night.

A man with his face covered, entered a retail store on Somerville Boulevard in Winthrop in possession of a weapon at 7.30pm. He made threats towards the staff member and a struggle ensured, resulting in the man leaving the store empty handed in a westerly direction towards North Lake Road.

Around 8.30pm, a man with his face covered, entered a service station on Feilman Drive, Leda in possession of a weapon. He made threats towards the staff member and went behind the counter. He managed to remove cash from the till before leaving the store.

In both incidents the man was described as between 175 to180cm tall, medium build, dark clothing and some material covering his face.

Investigations are continuing as to whether the incidents were linked.
