The boy, of Orelia, was charged with assault occasioning bodily harm and is due to appear in the Rockingham Children’s Court on Wednesday, May 21.

Kwinana police Senior Sergeant Glen Willers said police had targeted rock throwing in the Kwinana central business district for a six-month period, starting late last year.

He said police would start an on-going operation in the area in the wake of the recent incident.

‘We will be increasing police patrols in certain areas in a bid to reduce the incidents of rocking throwing,’ he said.

‘Rock throwing affects the safety of the community and it has been a problem for some time.’
