POLICE tasered a man who was believed to have a knife at Rockingham Shopping Centre this morning.

A Wellard woman said a man was walking down the middle of the shopping centre at 10.15am. She claims he had a knife that almost hit her three-year-old son.

“It almost got his head,” she said.

“He was moving his arm with a kitchen knife in it.”

The woman said she alerted the cleaners and security were called.

She said one security officer used a trolley to defend herself.

Police arrived about 10 minutes later.

Police claim the man refused to drop the knife and he was tasered.

No one was injured and the man was taken to the Perth Watch House.

A 45-year-old Rockingham man was charged with failing to comply with a request to give police personal details and being armed in a way to cause fear.

He is due to appear in Perth Magistrates Court tomorrow.
