Port Kennedy girl cuts hair for a good cause

Victoria RificiWeekend Kwinana Courier

PORT Kennedy Primary School student Amelia Brook will cut her 45cm- long locks to be made into wigs for children in need.

The seven-year-old’s mother Claire said her daughter had always wanted to grow her hair because she wanted to be like Rapunzel.

However, Mrs Brook said Amelia’s hair had become difficult to manage so they decided to cut it off and donate it to charity.

“Her hair will go to Hair With Heart and we thought we’d raise money behind it too,” Mrs Brook said.

Mrs Brook created an Everydayhero page to raise $5000 for to give to Telethon.

“We’ve raised over $1600 already, mostly from family and friends, and the generosity of strangers has been amazing,” she said.

Amelia will cut her hair in front of her peers on September 14 at Port Kennedy Primary School.

The school will host a crazy hair day for a gold coin donation to go towards Amelia’s cause.
