Possible disruption to bus services from Joondalup down to Mandurah

CAT BUS, school bus and general bus services may be disrupted on Thursday in Joondalup, Rockingham and Fremantle and CAT bus areas.

Transperth is advising bus passengers in some areas of Perth to allow extra time or make alternative arrangements for the morning of Thursday, October 11.

More than 200 schools around Perth could potentially be affected by the strike (check your school here).

One of Transperth’s bus contractors, Transdev, has advised that some bus drivers intend to engage in a four-hour work stoppage on Thursday from 6am until 10am.

Transdev operates services in the Fremantle, Joondalup, Mandurah and Rockingham areas. It also runs the Perth, Joondalup and Fremantle CAT services.

As a result, Transperth is advising passengers and parents whose children use public transport to get to school to make alternative arrangements where possible.

Resources will be focused strategically, with priority placed on busier routes and those servicing schools, universities and other important public destinations.

Transdev employs about 1000 bus drivers of a total of about 2500 around the metropolitan area.

Of those drivers, fewer than 300 voted in favour of the action.
