AFTER six months of spruiking the attributes of Rockingham to Nova 93.7 hosts Nathan Nat and Shaun, Premier Mark McGowan finally succeeded in enticing the trio to local restaurant Latitude 32 today.

With the Premier, Nat and Shaun arriving on time the jokes began immediately – many at the expense of Nathan, who was yet to arrive.

Mr McGowan suggested perhaps Nathan wasn’t sure where Rockingham was.

“Nathan got lost on the way – possibly gone to Rockhampton or Bruce Rock – anything with a rock in it,” Mr McGowan said.

Shaun and Nat were quick to join the banter.

“Wave Rock,” Shaun suggested.

After the laughter subsided, Mr McGowan said it was good to show off the area but could not resist another quip at Nathan.

“I invited the crew to have lunch in Rockingham to prove it is the best – although Nathan is protesting, I believe he may be currently driving somewhere in Thornlie,” he said.

“So hopefully they will say nice things about us on the radio on Monday morning.”

Nathan did eventually arrive, after about 15 minutes.

Nat tentatively said it was nice to be in Rockingham.

“Essentially it’s a hostage situation at gunpoint – ‘You Will Enjoy Rockingham’,” she said before bursting into laughter.

To which Mr McGowan quickly countered: “Ahh it’s probably a good stop for them on their way to their holiday homes at Eagle Bay.”

This was all before the meal was served.
