Program for writers this weekend

THE newly formed Rockingham Writers Centre will kick off its activities program on Sunday with a Write-In from 1pm to 3pm for writers to add words to their work.

RWC program coordinator Rebecca Laffar-Smith, who has been running similar events in Armadale, said it was an opportunity for writers at all stages of their development to get to know others facing similar challenges while working on an individual writing project.

"We do chat, but we also push and encourage each other to boost our word counts," she said.

Participants will need to bring a project they are working on and pen and paper, laptop or tablet.

A Tuesday evening session is being offered from 6pm to 9pm for writers seeking a class where they can learn how to write with a group of fellow travellers while gaining an understanding of the writing and editing process.

Facilitator Lyn Battersby said the aim of the group was to write, read and write again.

Both events will be held at the Rockingham Arts Centre.
