One of the entrants in the HBF Junior Sporting Heroes, the Tranby College student is a keen midfield and defence player and according to mother Samantha Rogers, has even inspired many of his male and female school friends to join the team.

‘Jack has played up in his soccer since he started in a club and plays strongly against 11-year-olds, and holds his ground sometimes better than his older rivals,’ Ms Rogers said.

‘Not only has Jack inspired many to play soccer and try and beat him, but he has also rekindled some swimming spirit in many of his male school friends’ hearts.’

Jack won the State Swimming Champion Boy 2013 and has also inspired his younger sister to take up soccer and swimming.

He has also completed in triathlons since he turned seven and usually finishes between fourth and eighth, despite competing against children aged 11 and older.

Despite his achievements, Ms Rogers said Jack was modest.

‘He takes his achievements in his stride,’ she said.

‘(Triathlon) I feel is his passion and as parents we couldn’t be more proud of such a sporty and conservative young kid,’ she said.
