Mr Buckley is coordinating a visual arts class as part of a raft of activities and courses offered at John Wellard Community Centre.
He said the class, held every Thursday during term, focused on watercolours, acrylics and oils.
‘It is about re-learning some of the basics of art and understanding the importance of perspective,’ he said.
‘The classes are open to anyone but we have had a lot of people coming back to art after putting it on hold.
‘It is great to see people so excited with getting back into art.’
Kwinana Mayor Carol Adams said the diverse programs at the centre had become an integral part of the community.
‘I encourage every Kwinana community member, no matter their age or interests, to explore what is on offer and take advantage of the many free and low-cost programs,’ she said.
