The event is perfect for those curious about what the group does as well as those interested in all things maritime.

Apart from displays of its rescue equipment and vessels, including the rescue boat Jaimee Lee and the radio tower, visitors will see flare demonstrations and radio procedures.

The day will also serve as a collection point for the safe disposal of flares due to expire by June 30. Government legislation means boat owners need to have in-date flares by July 1, or risk an on-the-spot $160 fine.

Located off Point Peron Drive, the group will host the event between 10am and 3pm.
