Rockingham-based Care Options Inc has asked the City of Rockingham to build a three-bedroom house on Malibu Road to provide respite, including overnight weekend care.

The City’s planning services committee accepted the recommendation of City planning officer Donna Shaw to approve the development. It will be considered by full council on Tuesday night.

Care Options said between seven and 15 clients, and up to three staff members, would be at the centre on four weekdays between 8.30am-5pm.

A variety of activities would be on offer including cooking, art and craft, exercise, and computer skills.

Each Wednesday, respite from 2.30-9pm would involve 13 clients and two staff, and once a month on a Thursday a social event would be held.

The City sent letters to about 60 nearby residents and landowners, and received two submissions ” one in support and the other objecting.
