Rockingham: Connected Seniors workshop teach tech skills

Vanessa SchmittWeekend Kwinana Courier

ROCKINGHAM seniors are proving that age is no barrier when it comes to technology, embracing their digital future at a special workshop hosted by Brand MHR Madeleine King.

Ms King said she asked Telstra to run the Connected Seniors Workshop following meetings with local residents where they talked about the digital changes happening around them.

“Local seniors are keen to embrace new technologies,” she said. “Telstra was happy to provide a team of helpers to come down to our local community to share some pointers on how to get the most out of their digital devices.”

Ms King said she was pleased to have been able to facilitate the popular session and looked forward to doing more of them in the future.

Telstra area general manger Boyd Brown said the strong turnout at the workshop showed how important it was to engage with seniors.

“It is always pleasing to provide a community service which is so well-received,” he said.

“Our Telstra technicians and team members worked with local residents and showed them some great tips on how to use different devices for every-day tasks.”
