Rockingham: elderly man mugged

Vanessa SchmittWeekend Kwinana Courier

AN 86-year-old man with a walking frame was mugged while taking his wheelie bin out in Beralda Court, Rockingham.

Police said the elderly man was taking his bin from the verge into a secure gated area of his unit at about 1.50pm on Thursday, December 3.

The victim had one hand on his Zimmer frame and one on the bin, and before the gate closed, an unknown man came up behind him and pushed him hard in the back. The victim managed to stay upright by holding onto his walking frame.

The man stole the victim’s wallet containing credit cards and cash before jumping over the fence of the gated units and fleeing down a passageway. It is not known which direction he headed, but it was either towards Rockingham City Shopping Centre or Sepia Reserve.
