LOCAL gardeners can give their yards a makeover without breaking their budget by picking up a bargain or two at the Rockingham Garden Club’s annual plant sale on Saturday

The club will be displaying a wide range of plants for sale and display, including fruit and vegetables.

Sale organiser Tony Lloyd said club members selected plants that grow well in their own gardens.

“They propagate them so they are available to new and experienced gardeners at reasonable prices,” Mr Lloyd said.

Native plants suitable to coastal areas and traditional plants would be available.

“Many traditional plants are no longer available from commercial nurseries due to their need to make room for new varieties and fashions,” he said.

Club members will give advice on gardening problems and tips on establishing new gardens.

“Someone with a new garden to plant out can access a full range of plants without breaking the budget and can have a true instant garden,” he said.

There will also be live entertainment for the first time this year, with Devonshire teas and hot food available.

The sale will be held at the Hillman Hall, 27 Unnaro Street, from 9am to 12.30pm.
