BANKING and finance will be a popular topic of conversation in Rockingham from tomorrow for the Western Australia Community Bank Conference at the Gary Holland Community Centre.
Rockingham Community Bank branch will host the two-day conference which has drawn attendees from Geraldton to Albany.
The Rockingham Community Bank company has returned more than $650,000in grants, sponsorships and shareholder dividends to the community.
Chairwoman and local resident Barbara Holland joined the board as a director in October 2012.
“At the time, Bendigo was prepared to take a chance on our community and if we could prove that we had the community spirit and commitment to raise the capital, Bendigo Bank was prepared to partner with us in opening a bank branch,” she said.
“The clincher for us was the fact that as our banking business grew, so too would the benefits that would flow back to our community.”
