City of Rockingham to host first Change Maker Festival

THE Change Maker Festival in Rockingham will provide young people with the chance to have their voice heard.

The festival is a new initiative by the City of Rockingham to bring together young people, 12 to 18 years old, who are passionate about their community.

It was formed after the City identified the need to initiate leadership conferences for children, young people and young adults, giving them the chance to meet and discuss important ideas and to provide opportunities for advocacy.

Mayor Barry Sammels said the festival represented a great opportunity for young people who wanted to have an impact in the world or were curious about becoming a change maker.

“The City of Rockingham is home to some inspiring young people with fantastic ideas,” he said.

“The first ever Change Maker Festival is a great opportunity for them to become a voice for young people in the community.

“Those who get involved with the festival will be able to join a community of likeminded people, receive training in advocacy, leadership and change-making as well as receiving the opportunity to be inspired by a number of entrepreneurial guest speakers.”
