The Rockingham Long Table Lunch will not go ahead next year.

After four highly successful Long Table lunches on Rockingham Beach, organisers decided against holding the event again in 2019.

Rockingham Kwinana Chamber of Commerce chief executive Tony Solin said it was a tough decision not to go ahead with the event.

He said increased costs and reduced support had meant the costs outweighed the benefits.

“The Malibu Fresh Essentials Rockingham Long Table Lunch on the Beach has been an iconic event on the local social calendar over the last four years,” Mr Solin said.

“The media attention from local print, radio and Channel 7 and Channel 9 was significant – over 400,000 viewers throughout Australia each year and their syndicated networks in Asia.”

“Award winning local restaurants including Rusticos Tapas and Wine Bar, Kent St Deli and Latitude 32 along with a further 40 local businesses were involved in the event every year.

“The lunch sold out each year, with Premier Mark McGowan, media identities and sporting heroes all attending the annual promotion for Rockingham’s lifestyle and investment potential.”

Mr Solin thanked all the local businesses that had supported the event over the years.

“The Big Brews Beach Party, which is held on the following day, will be collateral damage from the announcement,” he said.

“This will leave a large space in the promotion of the Rockingham Beach and lifestyle.”

Mr Solin said the RKCC are in discussions with Big Brews and other local stakeholders to present an alternative event early next year.
