WEEKEND Lotto winners from Rockingham knew on Saturday night they were the State’s only division one winners for that draw after they saw their regular numbers appear online.
The couple from Rockingham have now confirmed their $659,750 Saturday Lotto prize at Lotterywest head office.
Despite having played the same numbers for the past 20 years, the winner said he still checked his ticket about six times before the news began to sink in.
The man said he was experiencing shock so quietly began to watch a movie when his wife asked if they had won a prize on their ticket.
“I only said yes when she asked if we’d won anything,” he said.
“She jokingly asked if it was enough to retire on and I said probably.
“That’s when she ran to check the ticket herself and found out how much we’d won.”
The couple said the win was an extra bonus and would help them transition to semi-retirement so they could enjoy more holidays.
“We’ll be carrying on as normal but hope to get a new car,” he said.
“We also might upgrade from three to five star hotels on our next holidays.”
The winning ticket was sold at the Lucky Charm Warnbro.
It was only two years ago when The Lucky Charm Warnbro sold its last division one winning ticket to a single man from Cooloongup. The winner collected a $610,368 Saturday Lotto prize in December 2013.
Store owner Neil Bowman could not be happier that another one of their customers has struck it lucky in Lotto.
It’s not only WA’s Lotto winners who benefit following a draw, the local community benefits too with $283 million going back to support the WA community in the past financial year.
The South Coastal Women’s Health Services Association located in Rockingham received the benefits of those who play Lotterywest Games with a $184,844 Lotterywest Grant last year. These funds were used towards property and IT improvements to support the delivery of community health and wellbeing services for women living in and around Rockingham.
