Rockingham: man appears in court after fatal crash

Geoffrey William Wood (47) appeared in Rockingham Magistrates Court this morning after he was charged in relation to a fatal four-car crash in Warnbro yesterday.

THE crash on Safety Bay Road and Warnbro Sound Avenue yesterday afternoon claimed the life of a 91-year-old Waikiki man.

The man was a passenger in a taxi, one of the vehicles in the crash at the roundabout at 1.25pm yesterday afternoon, which included a white Nissan Navara, gold Ford Falcon, white Hyundai Getz and blue Ford Focus.

He died from his injuries after being taken to Rockingham General Hospital.

A 34-year-old Wilson man, who was driving the taxi, was seriously injured and taken to Rockingham General Hospital.

Police claim Mr Wood was the driver of the Nissa Navara and has been charged with dangerous driving occasioning death and dangerous driving causing grievous bodily harm. He was bailed to a Warnbro address and is due back in court on November 24.

Major Crash investigators are seeking witnesses who may have seen the crash or the vehicles involved prior to the crash, particularly the white Nissan Navara.
