Rockingham: man charged after girls assaulted

ROCKINGHAM detectives have charged a 25-year-old Waikiki man in relation to the indecent assault of two teenage girls on Wednesday.

Police put out an alert after a 42-year-old woman was approached at a Rockingham shopping centre underground carpark at 4.50pm.

Police claim the Rockingham woman was putting shopping into her vehicle when she was approached by a man. The man allegedly pushed her and she screamed causing the man to back away. He left the area on a yellow mountain bike.

The second incident occurred around 5.30pm on Warnbro Sound Avenue near Venice Retreat in Warnbro.

Two 16-year-old girls were approached by what is believed to be the same man while they were walking along a path. Police claim the man physically restrained the two girls before allegedly indecently assaulting them.

The girls were able to break free and seek assistance from people nearby. The man rode off on a yellow mountain bike.

The Waikiki man was charged with indecent assault, two counts of deprivation of liberty, two counts of deprivation of liberty, two counts of aggravated indecent assault, threats to harm, assault occasioning bodily harm, possession of stolen or unlawfully obtained property. The accused has been refused bail and will appear in the Perth Magistrates Court (Northbridge sitting) tomorrow, Saturday, October 24.
