Rockingham: man who breached community based order cops fine

A MAN who breached his Community Based Order (CBO) for failing to attend has received hefty fines for his original offending.

Trevor John Paul Herrits pleaded guilty to four breaches of CBO without reasonable excuse when he appeared at Rockingham Magistrates Court last Friday.

The community corrections officer said Herrits was placed on the order in May and had failed to attend appointments set out for him.

The original offending happened on October 22, 2015.

The duty lawyer said Herrits was currently engaged in study four days a week and was trying to better himself.

She said he had also stopped taking drugs since offending.

Magistrate Sandra De Maio said it was good he was bettering himself.

“It is a very good goal to be studying and is a substantial commitment of four days,” she said.

“You have stopped taking illicit drugs. I don’t want you to go backwards at all but I must re-sentence for the original offence.

“You bashed up people’s cars; that is beyond annoying because then they have to take the time and expense of fixing those cars.”

He was fined $1150.
