ROCKINGHAM pharmacy assistant Karlie Read has been chosen to represent WA at the National Finals of the 2017 Pharmacy Guild of Australia/Maxigesic Pharmacy Assistant of the Year Awards (PATY Award).

Ms Read works at Terry White Chemmart in Rockingham.

Pharmacy Guild of Australia training manager Deborah Scholz said the award was an opportunity to recognise and reward outstanding pharmacy assistants throughout Australia.

“The PATY Award was created to recognise pharmacy assistants who not only go the extra mile to help their customers but are also proactive in developing their careers,” she said.

“In doing so, they encourage others to strive for success and actively contribute to the community pharmacy industry.”

Judges picked Ms Read from 18 other state finalists at a WA workshop, where each participant demonstrated their pharmacy knowledge and showcased their skills in customer service and leadership.

Ms Read sais she was excited to have the opportunity to further her learning and development.

The Pharmacy Assistant National Conference will be held next month on the Gold Coast.
