FRACKING protesters took to Patterson Road, Rockingham on Saturday .

The Rockingham residents took part in Australia’s longest roadside demonstration in a bid to protect WA from fracking and unconventional gasfield development.

Widespread action groups across WA are pushing for WA Labor to legislate a ban on fracking in the South-West, Peel and Swan Valley, and a moratorium for the rest of the state.

Rockingham resident Mary Ann Rath said water was so precious in WA.

“Especially the extensive underground supply,” she said.

“No activity that could poison this water supply should be allowed.

“Fracking jeopardises this and should be banned.”
